How to Wear Lottie-Da Designs Accessories

Hair Vines

Hair Vines are flexible and very easy to bend into your desired shape for your perfect hair style. Here are several ways you can wear a hair vine:

1. Head Band

Wear as a classic headband on top or one side. Works great for updos, half up and fully down.
How to Wear:
  • Place the headband in the desired spot and use the ribbon ties to secure in a bow under your hair at the top of your neck. For extra security, use with bobby pins (hair pins) throughout so you can dance the night away! Using pins the same color as your hair will blend in the best.
  • Ribbon ties are sent with even length on either side. You can trim to desired length with scissors. To prevent the end from fraying, lightly paint clear nail polish on the tip or sear with a lighter flame a few inches away.

2. Forehead Band / Crown

For a grecian goddess look, hair vines can be worn on your forehead or just slightly placed back as a crown. Works great for updos, half up and fully down.
How to Wear:
  • An extra set of hands works best for placing this piece.
  • You can secure with ribbon ties at the back, tying a bow and  letting the ribbon ties drape down or remove ties and tuck the ends into your hair at the back.
  • Ribbon ties are sent with even length on either side. You can trim to desired length with scissors. To prevent the end from fraying, lightly paint clear nail polish on the tip or sear with a lighter flame a few inches away.
  • If you are wearing without ribbon ties - you can back comb (tease) the hair under where you attach the ends with pins. This will give added texture to securely hold the piece in place. See “Adding Texture” below).
  • Your hairstyle should be done, hair spray applied and dry before placing the piece. This should be the last piece placed (unless you are wearing with a veil, in which case a veil would be placed last). Because this is wire - the little beaded sprays  grab onto hair, so you want to try to get this right on the first try. If you do have to adjust placement - some hairs may have to be restyled.
  • Apply hairspray and perfumes prior to placing - spraying once the piece is on will dull the appearance of the crystals and pearls.
  • If spray does get on your piece, wipe with a damp cloth and let dry.
  • Place the headband in the desired spot on your forehead having someone help you tie it in the back while you hold in place. Use the ribbon ties to secure in a bow at the back of your head.
  • For extra security, attach with bobby pins throughout so you can dance the night away! Complimentary bobby pins may have been provided are provided but using pins the same color as your hair will blend in the best.

3. Worn in Back

Hair vines can be worn beautifully placed in the back. Works great for updos, half up and fully down.

How to Wear:
  • Ribbon ties are not required to wear this piece in back. Your piece may have arrived with complimentary bobby pins (hair pins), but using pins the same color as your hair will blend best.
  • The piece is flexible, allowing you to bend it into the perfect shape to fit your hair style.
  • An extra set of hands works best for placing this piece.
  • It is best to add texture to your hair for a secure hold. You can back comb (tease) the hair under where you attached the ends with pins. See “Adding Texture” below for tips.
  • Place the piece in the desired spot having someone help you pin in place while you hold in place.

Tip: back-comb or tease hair wherever the pins will be placed, not just in the middle.

5. Weaved into Hair

Weaving the piece into your hair creates a beautiful bohemian look. You can weave into updos, half up or braided. To achieve this look, I offer several sizes of piece with the longest one measuring 47”. See links below.
Keep alligator clips handy to help style.
  • Because this is wire - the little beaded sprays  grab onto hair, so you want to try to get this right on the first try. Take your time styling small portions at a time when creating your perfect look. If you do have to adjust placement - some hairs may have to be restyled.
  • You may trim the length if the piece is too long by using wire cutters and twisting the raws ends once cut.

Adding Texture to Your Hair:

1. Pin up the top layer of your hair.
2. Tease or back-comb underneath and add hair spray. Let dry.
3. Release the top layer of hair that was pinned up and smooth down so the teased hair is not visible.
4. Place the piece where you'd like it and pin throughout - trying to grab the hair that was teased. (it help to have another person place the pins while you hold in place).
5. Use pins the same color as your hair to blend the best.
